So wow! Yesterday Zoe and I witnessed first hand a police car chase through the streets of Ponsonby and Herne Bay! We were just coming out of a house on John St when we heard sirens and a police helicopter in the distance. After standing on the porch for a minute the noises were getting noticeably louder and suddenly a car zooms past on the road at frightening speeds followed by one marked police car chasing at a similar speed.

If you’ve ever driven down John St, Ponsonby you’ll know how thin the road is and how many parked cars there are on either side. There’s really only enough room for one car to go through at a time – this would of been absolutely horrific if a car happened to be travelling down the opposite direction. We saw the car go right up and turn left onto Jervois Road. Max was on his way to pick me up and he lives in the direction the car was going so I called him and warned him! A few minutes later he called back to tell me the car had swerved in front of him followed by several cop cars and the guy jumped out and ran into Cox’s Bay Park on foot! Epic!

Max reckons he saw the cops come back empty handed which means the assailant could still be at large in the Herne Bay / Westmere region. Excitment.
